Bizliteracy has become an authorized Certiport centre, giving it the mandate to administer the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) examinations in Microsoft Word ®, Excel ®, PowerPoint ®, and Access ®.
The partnership with Certiport gives Bizliteracy access to Microsoft approved instructor material and student learning material to ensure the best learning experience for participants in all the training programmes.
Bizliteracy has introduced this certification programme to satisfy the needs of organisations to improve the skills of their people in using Microsoft Office. According to research by Certiport, administrative and back office staff spend 80% of their work day using the Microsoft Office ® applications and 89% of supervisors agreed that MOS certified employees were more productive. The MOS certification will therefore improve efficiency by ensuring that employees fully utilize the organization’s software. This will reduce technical support cost and justify the organization’s investment in new technology.
For individuals, MOS certification is a means of professional development and sets them apart from their colleagues at the office and in job interviews because it validates their skills in using the Microsoft Office applications.
Bizliteracy hopes that the introduction of this programme will satisfy the need for certification and excellent standards in Microsoft Office training.

The team at Bizliteracy, from the 28th of February to the 2nd of March 2011, spent time with seventeen young individuals involved in the ‘Pass the Baton’ project training them on emotional intelligence, business etiquette and leadership.
The ‘Pass the Baton’ project is a program that engages youth who are waiting to be admitted into university after sitting for their West African Senior Certificate Examinations (WASCE). The program takes participants through workshops in preparation for internships in various organizations. The participants have the opportunity to gain experience in their fields of interest to enable them make informed decisions in their areas of study at the university and in their careers.
The program is an initiative by Madam Adjoa Amana who was concerned by the idea of high school graduates staying at home for a year prior to entering the university with nothing to occupy them. Having spent time with the United Nations working on adolescent development, she understood that young people are more likely to go wayward when they have a lot of time on their hands. She developed this program to get the participants profitably engaged to enable them have a brighter future.
Pass the Baton is in its second year of existence and the programme co-ordinators hope to expand the programme in subsequent years to allow for more participants. This is Bizliteracy’s first year of involvement in the programme and we hope to continue with the relationship.
